Why METRINO Matters

Nanomedicine represents the forefront of modern healthcare, offering transformative potential for diagnostics, treatment, and vaccines. However, the nanoscale size (10⁻⁹ meters) and complexity of these therapeutic particles demand precise and reproducible metrological solutions.

METRINO addresses this challenge by uniting Europe’s top experts in a collaborative effort to:

  • Harmonize measurement protocols across the nanomedicine landscape.
  • Foster alignment with regulatory frameworks like EMA, MDR, and FDA.
  • Enable researchers and industries to meet the highest quality standards.

With its cutting-edge approach, METRINO ensures that innovations in nanomedicine are not only effective but also safe and reliable for clinical use.

Meet Dr. Robin Schürmann

Dr. Robin Schürmann is a senior scientist specializing in X-ray radiometry at PTB. With a PhD in chemical physics from the University of Potsdam, his expertise lies in the physicochemical mechanisms of radio-enhancement in cancer therapy and the traceable measurement of nanomaterials using synchrotron radiation. As METRINO’s coordinator, he leads the charge in advancing metrological solutions for nanomedicine. He is also the leader of WP2 on Advanced Characterisation.
