After 36 months of collaborative measurement science, METRINO has moved from project delivery to legacy. Its methods, evidence, protocols, learning resources and scientific journey are now connected in one public knowledge space—designed to be explored, understood and reused.

Turin was not just the final meeting
At a final consortium meeting, it is easy to look backwards. In Turin, METRINO also looked forward.
On 11 and 12 May 2026, partners and invited experts met at INRiM to examine what the project had produced, what remained difficult, and what would make its results genuinely useful beyond the funded period. The conversation moved from standardisation expectations to a structured collective reflection on future use, unmet needs and continuity.
An external standardisation perspective
37 participants joined a hybrid session with Charles Clifford, Chair of ISO/TC 229, on what standards communities need from method developers and how future uptake can be prepared responsibly.
A collective legacy exercise
41 participants contributed 197 entries through a hybrid Rose–Bud–Thorn exercise, then prioritised future needs and possible continuation routes.
Seven recurring themes emerged. Among them were the need for clearer SOPs, credible reference and quality-control materials, better data-treatment guidance, earlier mapping of standardisation pathways, and a community able to continue the conversation after the grant.
This reflection helped sharpen a simple priority: METRINO’s closing package could not be only a set of formal reports. Visitors needed clear routes from a practical question to an explanation, then to the authoritative evidence and reusable resource.
